My daughter took me on a lovely walk last week around the rocks from Arkles Bay to the mouth of the Weiti River. It was one of those breezy, shiny late summer days with enough happening to keep us interested. We had red-billed gulls, black-backed gull, variable oystercatchers, and a pied shag flew by. You can see the variability of the oystercatcher in the black and pied phases shown in this photo.
Once into the Weiti you can take the steep track up to Ferry Road and get a good view back towards Okura.
