Ornate skink

There was another robin release at Shakespear Park today but while we were waiting this Ornate skink turned up. If you can see the little pale “teardrop” beneath the eye, this is an identifier for the species. This one has lost and regrown it’s tail and although the new piece is a pretty good imitation the size and shape of it is still not perfect.

The robins didn’t sit as politely as the skink did so you’re spared another robin picture but you can see the sort of interest there is in these birds.
