spotted flycatcher

This photo by Chris Robbins featured among winners in a  garden photo competition. It’s a Spotted flycatcher with a Tortoiseshell butterfly in its beak, taken in Devon in the UK. I love the photographers comments;

“This spotted flycatcher nested in our garden (the first one for many years) and to my amazement when the eggs hatched and the parents started feeding the young they started bringing back butterflies, not just one or two but dozens! I counted 29 in one day! This was taken in my garden just a few yards from my door.”
