Plum season

P1120953

There are so many plums on my tree this year that I don’t mind the birds hoeing into them. The blackbirds are mostly eating fallen fruit on the ground so no problem there. Silvereyes are the worst, working through the canopy and taking just a peck or two out of each fruit. Sparrows are much the same. Starlings eat a few, mostly on the ground but it is the tui I find most entertaining. They feed on fallen fruit, pre-opened by blackbirds, and look rather out of place on the ground.
